Highlands Somatic healing sessions are an immersion of dedicated self care... with the targeted purpose of encouraging your mind and body to exit survival mode... and ease into rest mode.
These sessions are thoughtfully and carefully designed, and tailored to you, to ease you back into your body... and out of your mind. These sessions aim to nestle you into rest and rejuvenation, after months (or even years) of chronic survival, trauma-based living, or fight and flight mode.
Somatic therapy uses a 'Body up’ approach... allowing the physical body (the nervous system) to regulate... by using physical body-oriented approaches. Stress, trauma, and burnout are all symptoms of an unregulated nervous system (a physical system - so we used different forms of physical based therapies to resolve this)
Each session uses a combination of Somatic modalities, carefully put together just for you, taking into consideration your life circumstance, preferences, needs, preferred outcomes, and boundaries... and may include any number of the following in each session:
Somatic touch/massage, guided meditation/visualization, breathwork, restorative yoga poses, body stretching, progressive muscle relaxation, reiki energy healing, reflexology/acupressure, art therapy, aromatherapy, mindfulness, sound healing ect.
Somatic therapy is a useful tool for those who are always in their head and overthinking, stressed, in fight or flight, in survival mode, holding onto trauma that is manifesting physically, burntout, or for those who are unsure how to process their emotions.
